8 Benefits of Positive Guest Reviews

When it comes to SEO, there isn't a magic formula to instantly send your site off to the #1 search result on Google.

But there are some basic principles you should follow for a wonderful starting point.

The value of a positive guest review:

Other than feeling good about your hotel, there’s a lot of business benefits from getting positive guest reviews. Here are just 8 of the benefits you will enjoy if you work hard to get positive hotel reviews in the right online channels.

Higher Revenue

Positive reviews boost your occupancy rate since more people will want to stay at your hotel after reading how other guests enjoyed their stay with you.

Your Company Value Goes Up

Public perception of any company greatly influences their stock market value. So of course you want more positive reviews for greater business value.

Increased Referrals

The more positive reviews you have, the more people will recommend your hotel to their friends and family. More referral customers means more revenue!

Build Customer Loyalty

Guests will keep coming back after they have had a positive experience with you, and also stay loyal due to your positive reputation in the market. They also feel good to be a customer of a business that is renowned for being great.

Better Search Engine Rankings

With more people sharing positive reviews of your hotel, search engines will rank your hotel website better which in turn means that this increases the findability of your hotel online.

Better Partnerships

When you’re well-known for delivering excellent service, having high quality facilities, and overall positive reputation as a business, people will want to do business with you as well. Your relationships with partners will improve as other businesses will want to be associated with your hotel.

Loyal Employees

Employees want to work for hotels with a positive reputation, and it brings them pride to say they work for you if it’s a well-loved hotel. Moreover, they will be more motivated to give their best every day at work.

Ability to Charge Higher Rates

If you’re highly rated enough, you can start getting comfortable charging premium rates without affecting your occupancy rate.

Topic: Am I doing enough to keep bookings coming in? Proposed Title: Many people in the hotel business try all sorts of ways to increase their hotel bookings. Some spend a large amount of money on Google ads, while others try sponsored content on influencers’ blogs. Both methods can help increase your hotel bookings, though their efficiency and return on investment vary depending on several factors. Here are five things you simply must do now in order to increase your hotel bookings. Start conversations on review sites Travelers these days always look at reviews of your hotels before making any decisions. Sites like TripAdvisor have become go-tos before any trip, so do invest some time and resources into responding to online reviews and comments. Offer money-saving packages Help convert customers who may be deciding between you and another hotel by offering several money-saving packages. Pair up a two-night stay with a discounted dinner package, or a deal on tickets to a local event. Encourage visitors to join your mailing list By increasing subscribers to your mailing list, you can send out latest news and offers to these customers who already know about you and are interested. User-driven online booking process The objective of your hotel website should be just one — to turn visitors into paid hotel guests. Make sure the user journey is clear and simple, and ensure that it is easy for them to make bookings. The design of the website should inspire them to want to stay at your hotel, and it should be easy-to-use, easy-to-book, and of course, mobile friendly. Be on social media Reviews are not just on review sites like TripAdvisor. Travelers are also checking your Facebook page for both reviews as well as who you are and how you’re like. Instagram is also worth spending time and efforts on, as this channel provides great inspiration for travelers who don’t know yet where they want to go or stay.

Here are the top 5 SEO practices to start with: #1 Write for people, not for search engines Always write original, interesting, high quality site content that's error free and relevant to your site. Search engines like Google can easily detect content that is duplicated from elsewhere online, that contains grammatical errors, or that is stuffed with keywords. #2 Add a blog to your site and use rich media To engage your site visitors and blog readers, create posts that include non-textual media like photos, videos, or original visualizations (infographics). Having that extra content (especially if it's captivating) will increase the time users spend on your site as well as the likelihood they will share your site with their own community. #3 Offer a positive user experience throughout your site Google will know if you're using your site to aggressively advertise your service, or if you're being too pushy. Always aim to offer site visitors a pleasant experience on your site. That means clear content, support when needed, and always an option to go back. #4 Create a network of internal links (but don't overdo it) Add links between different pages of your site and your blog. Try to follow a process that's organic rather than heavy linking meant for search engine crawlers. Link between pages that make sense, for example, on your services page, link a certain industry-specific term to a blog post that gives more information on that term. #5 Always check your site's Core Web Vitals Core Web Vitals are a site performance standard initially created by Google. The report shows site owners how their site pages perform 'for real,' how long it takes for site visitors to load site pages, and it offers ways to fix issues, if there are any.

TripAdvisor is without a doubt the number one site people visit to check what others say before booking a hotel. People will see how well you rank amongst all the hotels in a certain area. When looking for the best places to stay at a certain area, people will also be browsing based on rankings. Therefore, ranking well on TripAdvisor increases your visibility, as well as boosts your bookings because you are perceived to be one of the best hotels in the area. So how is TripAdvisor’s ranking determined then? 1. Quality According to TripAdvisor, with all other things being equal, the hotel with higher review scores will rank higher. That is to say, hotels with 4 or 5 bubble ratings will rank better than hotels with 1 or 2 bubble ratings. Straightforward and makes sense, right? 2. Recency How new the reviews are also determines your hotel’s ranking on TripAdvisor. Simply put, TripAdvisor gives more recent reviews a higher value than older ones. This means that your hotel must consistently get positive reviews to constantly rank well. Therefore, an excellent review you received 5 years ago doesn’t matter as much as a review you just received. You shouldn’t worry about this if your hotel is always meeting guests’ expectations. Keep encouraging your guests to leave a review for you on TripAdvisor so that you continue ranking well. 3. Quantity Although quantity is a factor, it doesn’t mean the more reviews you have, the better your ranking on TripAdvisor. Of course it’s not just about collecting reviews. You need enough reviews for TripAdvisor to be able to compare your hotel to other properties in the area. However, TripAdvisor will rank you based on its algorithm which will rank you more accurately once you have a substantial number of reviews. Afterall, customers will want to read several reviews of your hotel before they make a more informed decision.
